CATHOLIC LIFE

DIOCESAN INSPECTION REPORT 2025

St Alban's Catholic Primary School is a good Catholic school because:

  • There is a tangible sense of community at St Alban’s Catholic Primary School. Staff care for all pupils, and pupils feel safe, secure and loved, particularly those who are disadvantaged.

  • Leaders have a clear vision for the school, and have successfully evaluated the school strengths and areas for improvement.

  • Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes to learning are excellent throughout the school.

  • The relationships with parents, parish and community are strong, and the school is one of inclusivity. All are welcome.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our Mission Statement is…

“At St Alban’s we are proud to celebrate each individual for all that they are.  We are a caring community, enjoying and excelling in the presence of God”.

Our mission statement above embodies our whole school ethos.

By the time your child is ready to move on to the next phase of education we will have, together, encouraged them to have developed a sense of personal value and achievement, and a self-confidence that will carry on to adult life. We will do this through completing together ’50 things to do before leaving St Alban’s’ which goes beyond the formal National Curriculum.

As a school we promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

We are very proud of our school, our pupils and their success. We are committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning – achieved through a combination of challenge, support, encouragement and praise – to ensure that all our children fulfil their potential enjoying and excelling in the presence of God.

CATHOLIC LIFE OVERVIEW

At St Alban’s, everything we do is centred on our special Catholic identity.

We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, welcoming community where everybody is important.

Gospel Values are at the root of our community and we teach the importance of loving one another, as Jesus taught us.

It is very important to our school to share what we have with others. We share our talents when we sing for elderly parishioners.

We raise money for a wide range of charities. Most recently this includes Macmillan, The Children’s Foundation, Save the Children and CAFOD to name a few.

We share our time when we invite parishioners to share meals and coffee mornings.

We share our thoughts and prayers with those who need them.

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

At St. Albans we are proud to celebrate each individual for who they are.

We are a caring community, enjoying and excelling in the presence of God.

The Nature of Collective Worship

Collective worship in a Catholic school names and celebrates God’s presence in our lives.

It is concerned with giving glory, honour, praise and thanks to God. It is our loving response, in word and action, to God’s invitation to enter into relationship, made possible through the work of Jesus Christ and the witness of the Holy Spirit.

The celebration of Catholic liturgies and prayers as an integral part of the learning and teaching should enable the school community to become reflective, experience the presence of God and should develop a mature spiritual life.
